Testimonials
Dr. DeAsis provided incredible insight into the importance of posture for violin playing, emphasizing how alignment and balance can enhance both technique and endurance. One particularly fascinating concept he discussed was the connection between the pinky and thumb in the bow hold. He explained how these two fingers work together to create stability and control, allowing for greater fluidity and nuance in the bow stroke. His expertise and clear explanations made a lasting impact!

Dr. DeAsis' visit to Roosevelt University was both invigorating and inspiring. He offered invaluable practical advice on injury prevention through physical activity, proper warm-ups, and cool-downs. Beyond that, he served as an exceptional resource for students [and] his expert guidance in a personalized setting provided students with crucial next steps—potentially the difference between further injury and full recovery. In such a competitive field, injury can often carry a sense of shame or guilt. Dr. DeAsis helped demystify this, breaking down stigmas around musicians' wellness and fostering a healthier, more informed approach to self-care.
Dr. Winston Choi
Program Director of Piano, Chicago College of Performing Arts
Dr. DeAsis’ presentation highlighted the benefits of staying active outside of practice and rehearsals. Thinking of ourselves as athletes is an effective way to keep in mind our need for proper upkeep of our bodies. Knowing when to stop is just as important as knowing how to stop: the information I received was indispensable to me as a student and as a professional musician.

Violinist, Chicago College of Performing Arts
Dr. DeAsis represents a different type of medical professional; his commitment to performing arts medicine mixes empirical investigation with an understanding of the practical realities of being a musician. It was extremely validating to hear such an uncomfortable topic addressed in such an affirming and understanding way.
